Simple Step By Step
Congratulations, you’re engaged! Now what? How do I plan this little thing called “the biggest day of my life/wedding?” Here is a simple step by step for the beginning of planning your wedding.
Decide where you and your fiance want to get married. A religious place, outdoor, a special destination? Anywhere, really. If you have a specific date in mind, you may need to keep your mind open on where you will be getting married, but if you are flexible on the date the place of your dreams is only a decision away!
2. What are you going to wear?
After you know your venue, and the general atmosphere of the wedding, go a head and start looking at what you are going to wear. Try anything and everything on, you never know what is going to look best! Keep your budget in mind though, blowing it on a dress is easier than you think! Also, keep time in mind. Dresses can take up to 6 months to ship. My sister ordered hers in October and it didn’t show up until May! If you are on a time crunch look at sample dresses (they are usually cheaper as well, but come in “as is” condition).
3. Invite everyone!
Don’t forget invitations. Picking just one is so hard because they have so many beautiful ones to choose from. Invitations are completely customizable. Make sure you bring your A-game and a decision making hat. You want to give yourself plenty of time to choose and print save the dates (to go out 6-ish months prior to your big day) and invitations (to go out 6-8 weeks prior to your “I dos”).
4. What is everyone else wearing?
What are your favorite ladies wearing that day? Your bridesmaids are your support on your wedding day, and have most likely been your support for the past couple years. You want them looking their best too! Try and pick dresses that flatter everyone. If your bridesmaids are all different body types, look into the same materials but different cuts. You don’t want your bridesmaids feeling uncomfortable during your big day, because you want them to enjoy it just as much as you!
5. Prince Charming
The males always seem to be left out. Let your guy shine. It is his big day too, and he probably cares more than you think. Ask him what he wants to look like. He probably wants to look just as good as you! Take him to look at suits or tuxes. Choose something that shows his personality just as much as your dress eludes yours. Have his groomsmen wear something coordinating. If you want to stray away from traditional, switch up the shoes, or have your guys go without jackets.
Planning a wedding is tedious work so don’t give up! Enlist your most trusted friends and family members and maybe a planner to help you along the way. These 5 things aren’t the only things to think about, just the beginning! Remember you still have flowers, wedding registry, cake, favors, food, drinks, etc. for the big day to think about too! But don’t give up hope, it is all worth it in the end when all your dreams come true!
