Real Wedding: Lauren & Ray – Garden Extravaganza!
It was a gorgeous, summer wedding for Lauren and Ray on a hot day in June at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Raleigh. Dana of C+D Events was their wedding planner, and shares that they were an absolute joy to work with. Even though Lauren and Ray live out of state, Dana said that working with them was easy and so exciting. Lauren had a clear vision for their modern garden wedding, and Ray was enthusiastic in his support and in pitching some great ideas of his own.
“Ray was just totally smitten with his bride, and it always made me smile how much he went out of his way to care for her, serve her, and give her the wedding she has always dreamed of,” Dana said. “That is not to say Ray didn’t play an active role in planning – he chimed in and had really great ideas! It was seriously such a wonderful planning process.”
Lauren walked down the aisle in a romantic lace gown with a halter bodice and a satin sash around her waist. She wore her chestnut hair in loose waves, with half pulled back loosely around the crown. She kept her accessories simple and carried a lush bouquet of cream and pale pink roses and other blooms. Her bridesmaids wore cocktail dresses in a bright turquoise-green shade.
Ray wore a navy suit with a white shirt and navy tie. He wore a cream floral boutonniere and a pocket square that matched the bridesmaids’ dresses. His groomsmen wore matching suits but without the pocket squares.
After the beautiful and intimate ceremony officiated by Father Steve Kluge, the guests moved to The Stockroom at 230. Because the first look inside The Stockroom is an elevator, it can feel a bit underwhelming to guests. Therefore, Lauren and Ray worked with their wedding planner to create a more dramatic entrance. They set up a display in front of the elevator with a beautiful arch and an escort. Guests were delighted by the welcome, and the extra step helped to set the tone for the reception inside.
The tables were set with white linens and navy napkins. Dana with Bushel + Peck designed the centerpieces and other florals. The centerpieces featured cream and blush roses and other blooms, just like the bouquet that Lauren carried. The head table featured an opulent runner of greenery and cream blooms. It was backed by a chalkboard wall with the words “Lauren n’ Ray Always” in the font from Harry Potter. Twinkle lights and more greenery and flowers crossed the wall.
Swags of greenery embellished with the same florals were used throughout, such as in the tiebacks for the drapery.
Guests were served a delicious meal from Rocky Top Catering. Details Cake Design created the cake, which featured a simple yet elegant design of white frosting with white pearls. The cake was topped by fresh flowers in blush and cream.
