A REAL French Provincial Evening
It all started with an invitation that one simply hopes for. Like something straight out of a movie – and the more you read this innovatively decorated message, designed in a way that set the tone of the entire evening, the more excited you get about this soiree full of indulgent foods and endless possibilities!
A venue that would blow French royalty away – we watched as the valet parked our “carriage” and made our way toward one of the most picturesque properties imaginable. As we walked into another world, we were met with waiters offering tray after tray of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres that included a canapé of roasted beets, fines herbs and goat cheese as well as lamb and potato croquettes topped with a garlic aioli and chives – I can STILL taste these divine delicacies!
Fresh blooms and lush greenery spilled over the breathtaking planters that hovered from the over sized tent ceiling. Highlighted by strings of lights, giving everything an ethereal glow. Tablescapes that made you feel as if you’d been whisked away back in time to a French countryside, where little details from the perfectly placed linen napkins to the pastel centerpieces so striking, you couldn’t help but feel as though you had been transported to another era. And “Let them eat cake”? I say “Let them eat PIE!” Pies and pastries that you only dream about were on display, tempting guests with their “you can’t even begin to imagine how good I am” presentation.
And although the music was in the background, it was so smooth and subtle, that it stood out – creating the ideal ambiance as the sun set over the pond. My husband and I couldn’t help ourselves when we sat down to a dinner so divine that the rustic and elegant favor of sweet, local honey and honeycombs were just too tempting NOT to try before even walking to the exit – and they did not disappoint!
I had just walked into a fairytale and came out feeling as though I had stepped into a world that you only read about. With my Prince Charming of 18 years on my arm, I couldn’t help but wish that after meeting the wedding world’s cream of the crop, we could marry all over again.
