NC Real Weddings: Kari & Ryan – Boho Chic is BACK!
Kari and Ryan are a fun-loving, wise-cracking couple that have been dating since high school. They had their first date at Crabtree Valley Mall, and they haven’t been able to get enough of each other since. They’ve been traveling together, and they made their home in Los Angeles, where Ryan proposed. Ryan and Kari took a paddle boat ride around the lake where they run together, and they enjoyed views of downtown and taking videos of the ducks. It was an idyllic day, capped by Ryan standing up in the paddle boat to get down on one knee and propose.
Their love story began the next chapter at the Stockroom at 230 in Raleigh, where the couple are from. Kari said that she was hesitant to hire a wedding planner because she had a strong idea of what she wanted in the wedding and didn’t think it would be hard to pull all the details together. But she said that she changed her mind and is glad she did! The planners at Forward Fig Events went above and beyond her expectations and provided far more than the day-of services they were hired to do.
After getting ready at The Glass Box with her bridesmaids, Kari walked down the aisle in a strapless chiffon gown with a flowing skirt. She carried a bouquet of white flowers and blooms in soft pastels, mixed with sprays of greenery. Her bridesmaids wore long, gorgeous rose gowns. Ryan wore a striking black tux with a black tie, as did his groomsmen. They were joined by their adorable dog, Sidney, who was flown out from California to be a part of the big day. Sidney wore a floral ring with plenty of lush greenery.
While Kari and Ryan took photographs, their guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in downtown Raleigh. Ryan and Kari left a list of their favorite bars and restaurants in the area and asked guests to explore for an hour. Everyone was back at the Stockroom at 230 on time for the couple’s grand entrance to the reception.
The long head table was decorated with lush greenery down the center of the table, gold utensils, china, and golden candlesticks. The whimsical floral arch that was used at the ceremony also stood over the head table and the other tables featured hanging floral centerpieces.
Rocky Top Catering provided the phenomenal meal, and Sugar Euphoria created the perfect wedding cake. The couple sliced into a small “nude” wedding cake with minimal frosting and surrounded with garlands of greenery. Guests were able to enjoy wedding cake or gourmet donuts and at the end of the night, guests were able to enjoy a biscuit bar and cold brew coffee.
DJ Will Hardison kept the guests dancing through the night, and Hartman Outdoor Photography was there to capture all the special moments. At the end of the night, Kari and Ryan were able to retire to the presidential suite at their hotel (courtesy of Forward Fig) and were able to experience a first class start to forever!
