Real NC Wedding : Dana & Dan by A Real Fall Wedding at The Shady Wagon Farm
Every so often a real NC wedding comes across our desk that makes us giddy with joy. Nothing is better than seeing a powerhouse team of Weddings Mag vendors come together to make a bride’s dream come true. Dana and Dan used more than a few of our talented advertisers for their beautiful fall wedding, and the result was a charming family affair with just the right touch of personality and sparkle. Congratulations to Dana and Dan! Read on their their adorable wedding story.
We love spending time in the North Carolina mountains. We went up to Blowing Rock for my birthday weekend and went on some awesome new hikes. Dan took me on an adventure to the top of a waterfall and once we got to the top he got down on one knee and proposed to me. He was shaking so bad I was scared he was going to fall off the side so I pulled him up off his knees, grabbed him tight and said “YES!!”
My wedding planning experience was an absolute blast! It kept me so busy, but I loved it! It kept me excited and anxious (in a good way) to see how everything would all turn out after putting it ALL together. I had help though, Jessica King with Happily Ever After was my wedding day-of coordinator and she was such a blessing. She helped me and was there for me every step of the way. Any time I had a question or just needed to bounce ideas off someone she was there for me.
As soon as I drove on to Shady Wagons property for the first time I knew that it was our venue. I got that “feeling” and even a little teary eyed when walking around the property. It was just perfect!
Our wedding colors were Plum, Gold & Ivory. Our theme was rustic and whimsical. We were able to add a lot of personal touches which really meant a lot to us. We had “thank you” notes on every guests spot at the dinner table. We had personalized magnets that we gave as favors along with the personalized koozies!
For inspiration, I would flip through Weddings Magazine for hours and hours. I did research vendors that I had seen featured in Weddings Magazine and actually ended up booking a couple : ) My florist (Teacup Floral) was the absolute best recommendation and I couldn’t have been happier with my decision to go with her.
We currently live in Cary, NC. We have lived in Cary for almost 2 years now, moving from Raleigh. I am the administrative assistant with the Anderson Automotive Group and Dan owns his own tool truck and is a distributor for Matco Tools.
