Location is a huge aspect of any wedding – it sets the scene, creates an aesthetic, and sometimes even plays a role in the couple’s love story. Most times the location of a wedding is represented by the specific venue. For their Raleigh wedding, Rebecca and Josh went the extra mile and made sure to fully incorporate the city by photographing some of its most memorable – and colorful! — locations.
Rebecca and Josh captured the beauty of Raleigh from profound murals to picturesque skylines. Their series of portraits around the city demonstrates their shared appreciation for art and architecture, posing in front of well-known murals like All Are Welcome located on S McDowell St. and the Color Pop Corner near Marbles Kids Museum.
While there’s something to be said about the beautiful, awe-inspiring works sprinkled around the city, the couple also incorporated Raleigh’s more intimate side. Rebecca and Josh’s ceremony and reception took place in the Jiddi Space and Courtyard, a hidden gem downtown tucked behind restaurants Sitti and Gravy. Featuring exposed brick and market lighting, this secluded indoor/outdoor area is equal parts modern and provincial.
Rebecca floated down the aisle in a strapless satin ball gown carrying a gorgeous bouquet made up of lavender blooms and fresh succulents. Josh looked handsome in a navy suit with a purple tie and succulent boutonniere to match. The altar was dressed in white linens fastened by a colorful arrangement of peach, lavender and green succulents.
For the reception, guests moved to the indoor space to enjoy a delicious dinner catered by Sitti. Tables were dressed in beige linens and topped with ivory votives, gold geometric displays and lavender floral arrangements similar to Rebecca’s bouquet. After dinner, guests were treated to a unique three-tiered marbled cake with vibrant green and turquoise succulents on top.
As day turned to night, Rebecca and Josh moved the party back outside to the courtyard to dance under the romantic glow of the market lights. After a night of exuberant celebration, it was time for the couple to depart from their guests. To incorporate the special location one last time, the guests lined S Wilmington Street with sparklers to send Rebecca and Josh off. It was the perfect ending to a picturesque day in the City of Oaks!
