Couture Bridal Shower By Bliss By Sam Weddings and Occasions
Samantha Dockery, owner of Bliss by Sam Weddings and Occasions, believes every bride should celebrate in style.
So the idea of throwing a party at Solas, the hottest nightclub in downtown Raleigh was a super choice. Solas, selected for it’s edgy and chic atmosphere went hand in hand with the fashion week and couture themed event.
Invitations from Cute Buttons were a sleek vertical design that smoothly complimented the runway effect of the gathering. Created in black and white, the Invitations used the bride’s first name and initial as the monogram design.
Bridesmaids came and actually viewed and selected their gowns, from Priscilla’s of Boston, right off mannequins placed throughout the club. The chic color palette was platinum, gray and bright yellow ― some of the trendiest combinations of hues for this season. A vertical runway feel was added to the room by setting the head table on risers, creating a stage effect and making it the focal point of the room.
Bling mats, chargers, plate-ware and glassware, all from Z Gallery, completed the modern and contemporary look of the table scape. Floral arrangements designed with yellow Calilillies and Mohana roses woven into yellow pin-cushions dovetailed perfectly with the fashion forward motif. A completely realistic and edible high-heeled shoe was placed on top of the multi-tiered white cake with a silver-rim ― created by Swank cakes.
A signature yellow beverage, by Solas, was created specifically for this bridal event. It blended in beautifully with the platinum linens and marigold yellow runners that decorated the striking tables. A drawing of the bridal gown by Megan Hamilton, a keepsake gift that any bride would treasure, was prominently displayed at a central location in the room.
The lavish menu included:
- Maine lobster tail tempura fried until tender and served with hickory smoked tomato aioli.
- Duck quesadilla ― a slowly cooked braised duck breast gently pulled and stacked with roasted red peppers and fontina cheese. This delectable stack was then layered between crispy flour tortillas and served with mango-avocado chutney.
- Seared jumbo scallops prepared with vanilla butter.
- Seared Ahi Tuna, with a Szechuan Ginger-Soy glaze, paired with crispy tempura asparagus and wasabi cream.
Life’s Little Favors provided fantastic gifts that included an engagement key ring, an over-sized diamond paperweight and a monogrammed clutch purse containing a wedding day emergency kit and compact.
