Real NC Wedding: Erin Kelley & Paul Haley by C and D Events
Erin and Paul met the way a lot of modern couples meet: through online dating. What was so unusual about their connection is that Erin created a list of 37 qualities that she wanted to find in a partner, and Paul had all but one – though he still has time to become a Duke fan. They spent their first year together traveling to places up and down the east coast and even overseas to London, as well as attending numerous concerts and culinary adventures together.
Paul proposed to Erin over tapas at Mateo, the restaurant where they enjoyed their second date, with a stunning custom Bez Ambar engagement ring. A few months later, Erin designed a special scavenger hunt for Paul, leading him through several places of significance in their relationship. The last stop was Mateo, where she presented him with a beautiful TAG Heuer engagement watch.
The couple Erin Kelley & Paul Haley worked closely with C and D Events to fulfill their vision for their night. Despite many challenges in the days leading to the wedding, the ladies at C and D Events remained calm and organized, and they made the day look effortlessly beautiful. They were married at Duke Gardens a year to the day after the couple went there together for the first time. The ceremony and reception at Iron Horse had a Spanish theme that reflected Paul’s Spanish ancestry and Erin’s love and proficiency of the Spanish language. Everything from the menu and escort cards to the black lace fans carried by the bridesmaids and the lace wedding gown worn by the bride carried on their Spanish theme. The ceremony also included several traditional Spanish customs, such as the laying on of a flower “lazo” to symbolize commitment and the exchanging of arras (coins) to symbolize an agreement to take care of one another financially.
Guests enjoyed live Flamenco music at the reception and were entertained by a pair of Flamenco dancers. The menu included dishes like tantalizing gazpacho, garlic shrimp, meatballs, paella and sangria. The wedding cake had a layer inspired by Erin’s dress and another layer inspired by the laser cut invitations. Colors were romantic and vibrant — Sangria pink, eggplant, lavender, Magnolia leaf green, and black.
Gorgeous overhead twinkle lights and market light strands provided the perfect “Starry Night” atmosphere under the amazing clear tent as the newlyweds and guests enjoyed an evening they will never forget.
