Paige and Landon’s Fairytale Family Affair
Paige and Landon’s story started in college, the way many do. But their story had its own quirky details. Landon first noticed Paige at a wrestling party while she was talking to a guy about gumballs, of all things. Just like in classic love stories, Paige didn’t care for Landon at first – he was a partygoer, and she was a serious student – but he went to great effort to win her over, and his efforts finally paid off.
Five years after that first glimpse at the party, Landon asked Paige to marry him in a special proposal at a Charlotte Knights baseball game, and she said, “yes.” They were married at her parents’ home in Wake Forest, NC on June 3.
Paige and Landon were married on a simple altar of forest rocks with a backdrop of lush, green trees behind them. They had no attendants and the ceremony had a rustic yet elegant tone. The bride wore a gorgeous, ivory dress with layers of chiffon and lace. She wore her hair in a loose, low chignon accented with ivory flowers and wore no veil. Her simple bouquet consisted of ivory and periwinkle flowers with plenty of greenery. Meanwhile, the groom wore a pair of navy pants with a pink shirt, navy suspenders, and a plaid, blue bowtie.
After the ceremony, guests were able to move seamlessly to the reception, also held at the bride’s parents’ home. A billowing white tent was set up to give the tables cover, but many of the festivities were held on the patio and in the lush, green grass, courtesy of CE Rentals. Guests were served a classic barbecue, complete with a pig pickin,’ from Catering Works. Guests enjoyed cocktails, as well as traditional beverages like lemonade and Cheerwine floats.
The tables were covered in crisp, white linens and simple centerpieces that included small bunches of ivory roses and other blooms in mason jars. Tea lights in small, crystal vases added an elegant touch and a long family table ran the length of the tent, with smaller, round tables surrounding it. From the sublimely creative mind of Jennifer V. Events, the entire affair was designed just like an intimate, backyard barbecue, but with a touch more elegance.
Pastryworks created a beautiful two-tier wedding cake with smooth, ivory icing and a simple decoration of three blooms and a spray of lavender flowers on the side. The cake was joined by a dessert buffet of cupcakes and cookies. The cupcakes were topped with ivory and pink icing, presented on tiers made of thin sections of tree trunk. The Southern Sugar Bakery designed the cookies, which were decorated as mason jars with the word “love” in cursive, as well as an array of blooms in shades of pink and ivory.
CWDJ Entertainment provided the photo booth and DJ, which allowed guests hours of entertainment. Other reception activities included yard games, board games, sparklers, and roasting marshmallows. After a night of dancing, feasting, and toasting, guests sent Paige and Landon off in style, with a storybook ending to a perfect day.
