Real NC Wedding : Allison & Tyler by Cathy Anna Designs at An NC Outdoor Wedding
Yipee! We are finally blogging the spreads from our 2014 issue, and beginning with a very special Rougemont Wedding by Cathy Anna Designs. We are so thrilled to share this NC Outdoor Wedding with you, not just because of the special vendors that made it happen, but because it is just too cute for words. When we dream about an outdoor wedding in NC, this is what we think of. NC Wedding Planner Cathy Anna Designs of Oxford, NC was the planner for the event, and her exquisite eye for detail is evident in the colorful and elegant decor, from the (handmade!) tinted blue mason jars, to the perfect pops of pink and chevron. (BONUS: you can see how Cathy created these beautiful blue jars in the DIY section of the 2014 issue!).
Weddings Mag advertiser American Party Rentals supplied the rentals, including the funky chevron table runner and coral napkins, along with our favorite sleek and modern flatware and dinnerware. It’s safe to say this wedding is the perfect combination of elegant and fun. Speaking of fun, check out those corn hole boards! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate an NC Outdoor Wedding than with a little friendly competition on a Southern tailgate staple. The icing on the cake is that they incorporate the adorable wedding color scheme and more chevron!
Chevron made another endearing appearance on the GORGEOUS chevron wedding cake created by Todd of Edible Art. This four-tiered masterpiece featured alternating layers of gray and chevron layers, accented by delightful coral blooms. A very special cake for a special couple.
There were two amazing photographers featured in this spread, perfect for capturing all of the amazing details. Elisa of In Contrast Images, took some incredibly stunning shots, including one of our favorites of the ceremony overlooking the mountains. Responsible for the detail shots is J.B Haygood Photography. What is better than having one amazingly talented photographer at your wedding? Having two!
Ronnie Williams with The Perfect Beat provided the musical entertainment for this delightful NC Outdoor Wedding, keeping the party going throughout the evening.

Allison and Tyler married in a September ceremony that combined vintage and modern elements, with customized details that made the celebration special and unique to the happy couple. A 1972 Cutlass convertible drove the bride to the top of Runnymede at Red Mountain in Rougemont, and her father escorted her down an aisle flanked by shepherd’s hooks with hanging blue mason jars filled with coral Salmanazar garden roses and berries. Guests were seated in black, wrought-iron chairs, and the mountainside ceremony setting featured vintage doors with billowing fabric and flowers in hanging blue mason jars, as well as vintage windows draped with coral Sweet Pea.
Coral and charcoal were the chosen colors for the ceremony with light blue and chevron accents. Special bridal party guests included the couple’s dog, Charlie, who wore a grey and white chevron bow tie, and Baby Jackson, who served as ring bearer and wore a white onesie and matching grey and white chevron suspenders and bow tie. Other special DIY details at the ceremony included wooden directional signs painted by the bride and a program written on the glass of a vintage window in coral.
After the ceremony, guests moved to the other side of the mountaintop where they enjoyed games of corn hole and bocce, before indulging in a buffet dinner at the Tuscan-style villa. Handmade chandeliers with pops of blue and coral, and floating candles in blue mason jars provided romantic lighting for the reception. A wrought-iron bar and furniture, as well as coral linens with grey and white chevron accents, helped unite the look of the ceremony and the reception.
The reception’s opening father-daughter dance broke into a surprise flash mob that included the bridal party and the bride and groom’s family. Dancing continued throughout the night until the couple made their sparkler exit into happily ever after.
